Nelson Elementary is a community of diverse cultures, languages and ethnicities.  We celebrate our differences while building on our commonalities. Together, the Nelson community works, learns and grows together to create an inclusive and familial environment for all.

In an effort for continued growth and improvement, Nelson Elementary is focusing on the following areas:

Nelson is a Common Sense Media School and provides weekly technology instruction in the areas of cyber-safety, cyber-validation, and cyber-citizenship for grades 1 – 6. Technology lessons includes keyboarding and basic computing skills so that all students are able to access learning through technology.

Staff development is ongoing with monthly classes focused on learning needs of all students, instructional practices to meet those needs, and cultural awareness.  Resources used in classrooms and the LMC reflect the cultural and ethnic diversity of the Nelson Community.
