Nelson Elementary's School Culture

Nelson will be adopting the Positivity Project beginning with the 2020-2021 school year.   In addition to our focus on Character Counts!, Nelson Elementary will directly instruct students in character traits that build a positive and inclusive community, and celebrate those practices.

Celebrations of Our Diversity
    *

Example 1

Acceptance and Understanding of All:  Nelson Elementary promotes inclusivity through collaborative mentoring in the PALS program, Reading Buddies across grade levels, and multicultural assemblies throughout the year.

Example 2

Student Relationships:  Students are provided many opportunities to develop relationships outside of their classrooms and develop leadership skills through Student Council, Leadership, service clubs, and service responsibilities.  Students learn that anyone can be a role model and leader by accepting the responsibility to do so.
