Nelson utilizes the Positivity Project for social-emotional learning. In addition to our focus on Character Counts!, Nelson Elementary directly instructs students in character traits that build a positive and inclusive community, and celebrate those practices.

Nelson Elementary promotes inclusivity through collaborative mentoring in the PALS program, Reading Buddies across grade levels, and multicultural assemblies throughout the year.

 

 

Students are provided many opportunities to develop relationships outside of their classrooms and develop leadership skills through Student Council, Leadership, service clubs, and service responsibilities.  Students learn that anyone can be a role model and leader by accepting the responsibility to do so.
